An Activision Blizzard Q1 2014 report has emerged which reveals that Call of Duty: Ghosts has been a huge success for the company on current-gen platforms, while also establishing a rough timeframe for the Destiny beta.
According to Activision, Call of Duty: Ghosts was the #1 seller on the PS4 and Xbox One, making it the #1 franchise in North America for the fifth year in a row (according to NPD, which tracks boxed not digital sales). This is interesting considering the lukewarm reception the game received critically. Apparently, fans liked it just fine.
Activision also revealed that Destiny is tracking to beat the record for pre-orders for a new IP, with a beta slated to begin in July.
Finally, the company's toy-video game hybrid Skylanders is the #3 franchise in North America and Europe combined, with Swap Force being the #1 game in Q1 2014 in those regions. The next game in the series, Trap Team, will be released on October 5, 2014.
